Testing explainer

Pesticides

A pesticide panel screens a sample against a fixed list of pesticide, fungicide and growth-regulator compounds, each with its own action limit. A result at or above the limit fails that analyte; a result below it is reported not detected or below the limit of quantitation. What follows is computed from the certificates indexed on this site.

6617

of the 7143 indexed batches carry an itemized pesticide panel

A further 493 print a pesticide pass or fail verdict without listing the individual analytes; they are left out of the panel sizes below.

476661

individual pesticide analyte results on record

818

distinct pesticide analytes have appeared in a screen

A finished, consumer-packaged batch is screened against a fixed state list. A wider distinct-name count across the whole index reflects a small number of intermediate, pre-packaging batches tested on an expanded screen, not a wider standard panel; see how to read a COA.

Panel size by market

How many pesticide analytes a finished, consumer-packaged batch is screened against, counted off the certificates that itemize the panel. Laboratories in the same state do not always print the same list, so each market shows its most common panel size and the range of laboratory standard panels.

Zero-tolerance limits

A subset of pesticide analytes carry a zero-tolerance action limit rather than a numeric one, printed on the certificate as “Any amt”. See zero-tolerance limits for the full computed breakdown.

Result vocabulary

Every pesticide result is one of five outcomes: a detected numeric result, not detected, below the limit of quantitation, not reported, or not tested. See what these mean.
